Steampunk Crowdfunding June Edition
Lots of very cool projects again this month. The books are back with a vengeance, but make sure to check out the games and special projects, too!
Here’s what’s on tap for June/July 2015
Spring-Heeled Jack, ends July 1
Spring-Heeled Jack is a steampunk mystery and the first volume of the Queen of Spades Series. Originally, the series was called Abstract Magic and it was an Urban Fantasy Adventure, but I came to the realization that it was far too similar to the Harry Potter series or the previously mentioned Percy Jackson. I decided that I had to put the project on hiatus until I got a new spark of inspiration and only about two months ago did I get that inspiration. For the most part, the characters and basic plot are the same but the finer details and setting got a major overhaul.
The story of Spring-Heeled Jack revolves around Atticus Whaelord, a student at the Fortuna Prep Academy with a mysterious power. On the back of Atticus’ hand is the Queen of Spades, a magical crest that allows him to take perfect mental photographs. He can keep these photos in his memory and/or he can imprint them onto sheets of paper. One day, one of his classmates commits suicide, but Atticus doesn’t buy it. He feels that there are too many things wrong at the crime scene for it to be just a suicide and he thinks it’s a murder.
My favorite rewards: $10 pledge gets you a digital copy of the book, $35 gets you a physical copy + a t-shirt
First there was Brass, then Copper, and now Iron, cold Iron, to rule them all…
In a world where Rome fought off the barbarians, the Vikings, the Huns and the Persians, Roman steel, training, and technology proved to be the difference. Roman airships patrol the waters, while trains and steamships transport people around an empire holding most of Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.
But not all is as it seems. In Iron Tribune, Tribune Julius Brutus Caesar and his commanding officer, heir to the throne Constantine Tiberius Appius, find themselves neck-deep in political and military intrigue. As things go from bad to worse, the empire faces its toughest threat yet: A resurgent Mongolian Empire armed with new weaponry the likes the Romans have never seen before…
My favorite reward: For a $25 pledge you can get the whole trilogy in a digital format

Steampuff the Animated Series, ends July 16
Check out the first three episodes!
The Steampuff adventure is Steelehouse’s attempt to combine many of the things that sparked magic in our minds as children – and continue to as adults. Riding a fantastic line between fantasy, reality, and science fiction, Steampuff is an expansive canvas for sheer fun and a natural fit for the stories we desire to tell. A hero with awesome gizmos? Check. A transforming steam powered robot train? Got it covered. A floating city held up by massive steam jets above clouds that hide who knows what? Gotta have it. But, most importantly: heart. We know you will fall in love with the characters and world of Steampuff as much as we have – and we can’t wait to share it with you…
My favorite reward: $5 pledge gets you a wallpaper for your computer and access to the production blog so you can see how an animated series comes to life.
Stars of Empire Second Edition (plus Land Fighting Machines book), ends July 4
So why a Second Edition? The first edition of Stars of Empire was published by Black Pigeon Press and used their Hacktastic game engine. Unfortunately Black Pigeon Press has closed its doors. Instead of letting the Hive, Queen and Country Universe just die I formed Aerolyth Enterprises LLC and began self publishing. I wanted to circle back and do a second edition of the core RPG rules.
Steam Roll: A Steampunk Puzzle and Strategy Game, ends July 8
Steamroll is a puzzle and strategy game with a touch of arcade action and adventure. We like to say it takes elements from Portal, from the classic Marble Madness and from minigolf games. It creates a steam-punk atmosphere where you will have to solve puzzles by designing and shooting Steamballs from your vehicle to create ramps, walls, activate triggers, blow things away, and more. Steamroll is being developed using Unreal Engine 4 for Windows, Linux and Mac, and we plan to complete it this September. We are also targeting the current generation Playstation and XBox consoles…
My favorite reward: for 18 euros (approx $20) you get a download of the game for your computer, plus a personalized postcard and book of artwork.
