Guillermo del Toro has just announced work on a new web series (via Amazon streaming) that brings together a punked Victorian setting with mystery, murder and fairies. There is no air date announced yet for A Killing on Carnival Row, but according to the January 2015 article I was reading production is supposed to be going on now.

“We always had too many ideas to fit into the feature,” said Legendary Pictures CEO Thomas Tull. “We can now really focus on the world and the politics of what it is to be a magical being in Victorian steampunk atmosphere where you are seen as a lesser being.”

  1. Sounds pretty cool, but I’m always a bit hesitant when Del Toro is involved. I love the guy’s work…the problem is him getting that work to fruition. He always seems to have a ton of projects planned, but the majority of them seem to be stuck in development hell or completely dissolved (see: his adaptation of Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness or his collaboration with game developer Hideo Kojima to reboot the Silent Hill franchise). Here’s hoping for the best, though!

    • Interesting. I didn’t know about about the Lovecraft project. Let’s keep our fingers crossed 🙂
