“Discoveries” 3D Paper Hot Air Balloon Shadow Box

I decided to try a variation on my Steampunk Christmas ornaments to use the cage shape to make a balloon. Or, at least half of a balloon in this case. This shadow box measures 12 x 12 and can hang on a wall or rest on a shelf. The key, clock hands, gear and spring (the basket) are real salvaged items, and the chains are narrow and copper colored.

UPDATE: This shadow box is now available as a special reward as part of my Kickstarter campaign for Steam Tour: An American Steampunk in London.

    • Thanks! I am really pleased that the concept I had for the balloon worked out as well as it did. My next experiment will be a bird cage with a metal bird inside.
